How to Fix Your Credit Yourself

You can hire a credit repair company to restore your credit, but if you're ready to invest your time rather than your money, you can do it yourself and save money.

The only things you need to know before getting started are how much your time is important to you and how comfortable you are making and handling many credit profile-related phone and email contacts. You can also read the full info here about credit.

You should also be familiar with reading and writing quasi-legal papers. You can locate sample correspondence on the internet to assist you.

Obtain Your Credit Reports

Your credit score is determined by a mix of criteria and information provided to the three major credit reporting agencies by third parties. Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion are the three primary credit reporting companies with which we are concerned.

These three companies are in charge of publishing information about you on your credit report, but they are not in charge of determining your credit score.

Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion will get information about you from a creditor, a collection agency, or another company (known as data furnishers), and the credit bureaus will publish it. When they first disclose the information, they do not conduct a comprehensive check into its validity.

It will only be investigated after you have discovered it and challenged it, at which stage it may have been hurting your credit for months or years.

It's also normal for information on each of your three credit reports to be different, which makes it feel like you're playing Russian roulette every time your credit is pulled if you don't fix all three at once.
